Shri Bhawani Das Sahib Ji
Satgurudev Shri Bhawani Das Sahib Ji was the Fifth Gurudev of the sacrosanct Gaddi of Shri Harmilap Sahib Ji. His extremely lenient approach brought him closer to his worshippers. He abhorred shrewdness and deceit. He loved people with a pure heart and had a courteous nature. An illuminated aura and pure bliss prevailed around him.
One day a man named Devdutt came to Shri Satgurudev Ji. He told Gurudev that leaving behind everyone, he had come to his recourse. He was helpless, poverty stricken and had struggled throughout his life to eke out a living. He cried relentlessly and begged him to give what the Almighty had written in his fate, once and for all. Gurudev said, “One's sins are one's own faults, so the brunt of deeds has to be borne by oneself only. Destiny cannot be changed, though the learners lose patience during tough times.” Devdutt said that Gurudev was right, but by all means, he only was accomplished and versed so only he can help him overcome his miseries. Gurudev can change the course of a river at his behest, forgive even the most evil sinners, if he wishes, then why he could not end his suffering?
On seeing him so aggrieved, Gurudev felt pity. He took out a small cotton towel, put three handful of soil in it and tied a knot. Then he gave that bale to Devdutt and told him to open it at home. When Devdutt reached home, he untied the knot of the bale and was surprised to see what it contained. Gurudev had put soil in the towel with his own hands and it had miraculously turned into gold! He was overwhelmed with joy. Many thoughts came to his mind. Devdutt had then become rich and prosperous. His belief in Gurudev had become stronger and Shri Satgurudev Ji had freed him from miserable poverty.
Shri Satgurudev Ji, with some of his followers, went to different places for the welfare of his devotees. After visiting many villages, Shri Satgurudev Ji came to Chanyot city. He built a Bhawan there and named it 'Shri Harmilap Thakur Dwara'. Amenities like food and shelter were provided there. After spending time with his devotees at different places, Shri Satgurudev Ji came back home.
There lived a merchant named Dasu Ram. One day, he came to Shri Satgurudev Ji. He bowed at Gurudev’s feet and asked for his consent to go abroad for business. Gurudev agreed and blessed him. With the image of Shri Satgurudev Ji nestled in his heart, Dasu Ram started his journey. He visited many countries, collected various goods and boarded a ship on return. When they were in the last few miles to their destination, a hurricane struck the ship.
Travelers started crying in panic. Dasu Ram became fidgety and started praying to Shri Satgurudev Ji to save him. When Shri Satgurudev Ji heard his desperate prayer, he rushed to save the sinking ship. He tied a rope and started pulling the ship towards the shore. Shri Satgurudev Ji was walking on the surface of the ocean as if he was walking on land. He dragged the ship up the shore and disappeared. Where the ship anchored, Dasu Ram had managed to catch a glimpse of Shri Satgurudev Ji. After disembarking, he went straight to Shri Satgurudev Ji. He bowed his head at Gurudev’s feet again and again and said that if he had not saved him, all his happiness, wealth and life would have been ruined. There was nothing in this world which he could present in return to Gurudev for saving his life. Shri Satgurudev Ji said that it was not his favor, but the graciousness of Shri Harmilap Sahib Ji that his life had been saved. Dasu Ram bowed in reverence and went back.
More time elapsed. One day, Shri Satgurudev Ji called his son Shri Chandrabhan Ji and explained to him the Guruneeti and ceded him the divine Gaddi of Shri Harmilap Sahib Ji. He himself took Vanprastha. Living indoors, he started spending time in chanting, austerity and abstinence. He had committed mind to the devotion of Shri Harmilap Sahib Ji only.
One day, Brahmrishi Naarad Ji came to Shri Satgurudev Ji and bowed at his feet. He was delighted to have the divine sight of Shri Satgurudev Ji. Gurudev welcomed him with folded hands. Naarad Ji said that Brahma Ji told him to go to Prithviloka and have a glimpse at the holiness of Satgurudev Shri Bhawani Das Ji Maharaj, who is adorning the divine Gaddi of Shri Harmilap Sahib Ji, whose immense glory could not be surpassed. Naarad Ji said that Brahma Ji also told him, “God himself will incarnate as the son of your Tenth Guru, who will be another beacon of light for the name of Shri Harmilap Sahib Ji.” Singing praises of Satgurudev Shri Bhawani Das Sahib Ji, Naarad Ji went back to Brahmloka.
One day, Shri Satgurudev Ji called his relatives and devotees and told them about the prediction of Naarad Ji. He explained to his son, Shri Chandrabhan Sahib Ji, to be kind to the servitors, treat them like sons and narrate to them the sacred saga of the gracious Shri Harmilap Sahib Ji. Then Gurudev told him that he wanted to go to Satyaloka. He asked him not to grieve but to recite the ‘Naam’. After that, Shri Satgurudev Ji took samadhi, gave up his life through Brahmdwar and moved on to Satyaloka.
